STAY HAMPTONS: Roundtree Amagansett

We’ve been visiting the Hamptons for years now, but only just realized that we don’t often stay, especially not as a family. The last time I was in the area, I stayed at Shou Sugi Ban House- absolutely lovely, but a completely different experience and one I feel best enjoyed solo.

However, when it comes to a family getaway, a fun escape with friends, The Roundtree is definitely much more the vibe. Let me explain why;

1. Location: Amagansett is a delightful destination with a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural charm, and recreational opportunities.Amagansett boasts pristine beaches along the Atlantic Ocean. Whether you’re a sunbather, surfer, beachcomber, or none of the above, the sandy shores offer a serene escape. Don’t miss Atlantic Avenue Beach, where you can enjoy the waves and perhaps spot marine life. This boutique hotel is located in the heart of its charming downtown, So you’re literally a stones throw, a one minute walk to all it has to offer. Stroll through Amagansett’s downtown area, lined with boutique shops, eateries, and cafes. The hidden gem, Amagansett Square, offers a cozy atmosphere for relaxation and shopping.

2. Design & Style: if where you stay really matters to you, if the space you’ll be in matters, if you love design, interior decor and scour design magazines, then fear not, you have found your spot. From the moment you drive up to the property, you can feel that old Hamptons charm and elegance. Because it is a historical property, much has been done to restore the exteriors to their old glory. But what’s even amazing, is the minimal but oh so effective redesign they completed on the inside. There are rooms for couples, families and larger families and yet because it is a Small Luxury Hotel of the World, it retains intimacy and tranquility. While the rooms are cozy, chic and comfortable, nothing beats the grounds. This is definitely a hotel in which you should celebrate all its outdoor spaces, stretching out on the lawn or hammocks, reading under the massage trees. It’s somehow both grand and quiet.

3. Service: The Roundtree accomplishes a lot with its small but highly efficient team. Super responsive, super thoughtful. There’s fruit and water and cookies constantly on offer. Room service was so quick, I doubted they could be efficient and then I went into the room and it was not just spotless, it felt like Day 1 room- you know what I mean. Often when at a hotel your room never quite gets reset to Day 1 standards.

So yes, if Small, Lux, Great service and access to lots of shopping, eating and water activities is your jam, then Roundtree is your hotel.
