Beautiful
I subscribe to a ton of travel magazines. They help me escape the crowded, stifling NYC train during my morning commutes. For the most part, it's the places that catch my eye. This time around it was these images.
The Maasai are probably the most well known and photographed of African ethnic groups and yet I couldn't help but find these images stunning. It must be something in their stare. And the warrior below is so well adorned (the mirror, bangles, arm bracelets, headgear, necklace and the sword that won't let you forget that he's a warrior)- he couldn't be more regal.
Sometimes Africans complain about their limited portrayal in the West, as being too traditional, too tribal. While there is certainly a lot more to the continent, I couldn't help but be proud of just how beautiful the too tribal, too traditional is.
